Welcome to My Kitchen!
Firstly, I will try and keep this strictly for dishes and food I have made or will be making with anecdotes and rambling narrative. Secondly, no videos! Why? Because I am far from photogenic and frankly, look at how much room I have to work with! Might be some monetizing on the side because a girl needs a side gig right?
I am not a professional blogger, influencer or whatever. Just a retired grandma cooking in a tiny closet of a kitchen and making delicious food for me and my partner. Let's set the stage shall we?
Only room enough for one person cooking at a time 7 feet long by not even 3 feet wide. 32 inches from stove to sink counter on the other side. See that notch in the counter on the left?
That's why. So for the big main meals I'm the one that does the cooking. I love to cook when I have the ingredients needed. What is supremely frustrating is not having enough prep room because that end of the counter has the dish drainer and our cases of water.
The Stove....
It's called an 'apartment stove' for a reason. I have a very large 'Greenpan' frying pan I found at Target I believe. There's no room for another pot or pan when I used that big burner for it. I also have an enameled dutch oven I found at Goodwill which I was thrilled about believe me! All the players in this stage will be seen in various dishes I have created. Oh, the spice rack is from Ikea. All the spices I use regularly are in that rack.
Cutting boards, I have the plastic ones, which are good but the largest one is warped and when I started hearing about microplastics, I haven't used them much. The wood ones are solid bamboo and are my workhorses in food prep. Bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial and have no 'wood' taste as opposed to the standard whatever wood that my pull out one is. Picture of that later.
So, that is what I'm working with and when I say my kitchen is as big as a closet, it is. Our bedroom closet is only slightly smaller.
And there you have it, my tiny kitchen where magic happens. My partner says that I cook with love, well if love is a garlic in one hand and onion in the other, I'm the gal for you!
(Still some set up to do for the blog theme and such, stay tuned!)
